The clinical term for jaw pain is Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction - or TMD. This condition is caused when the muscles, joints and nerves of the jaw and surrounding structures are not functioning properly, causing inflammation and pain.
TMD may not only affect the tissues in your jaw but can spread to surrounding structures. This can leading to neck pain, shoulder pain, headaches and back pain. It's not unusual for more than one area to be affected at once.
At CMC we use a variety of techniques to treat TMD, including Soft Tissue Therapy, Mobilizations, Adjustments and Laser Therapy. Additionally, we have great referral connections with dentists in the area when manual care just isn't enough. Our clinicians will work with you to fully understand your case and provide a tailored treatment to help reduce your jaw pain. With a multi-modal approach involving active treatment and rehabilitative training, Chiropractic Care is a great first step to reducing your jaw pain!
